How to get there?

By Plane

From Bogotá: Take a domestic flight to Medellín, there are not direct flights from Bogotá.

From Medellín: There are only 3 airlines that go there, Satena, Latam and Ada (small planes). You can separate the flights personally or hire an agency that can help you, I hired Awake (they provided wonderful attention)

Personally I recommend taking flights instead of going by land, it is much safer and faster!

Recommendations!

  • Be patient. Normally the whales come out when the sea is calm or when there is not as much sunlight. Although you are more likely to see them in the morning and afternoon hours, there is no specific time when they come out.

  • Take a pill for motion sickness! It is not safe if you are going to spend 1 or even 2 hours in the middle of the sea waiting to see one of these incredible creatures, so bring what you need to avoid severe dizziness.

  • El Chocó is a geographical area with a high probability of rain, so wear comfortable clothing that you can get wet, sea shoes that have good grip, a solar projector and sunglasses with UV protection
